We are constantly looking at ways to reduce our environmental impact, and to make positive social and environmental choices. We have a CSR Group that meets six times a year and an action plan to address our concerns. Read our Social Responsibility policy and our Transport and Travel policy.
IT Services R&D / ILRT was the first University department to achieve the Investors in People standard in 1999 and people development continues to be an important part of how we work, with an emphasis on team work and knowledge sharing.

IT Services R&D / ILRT closed in 2014. IT Services R&D / ILRT was the research and development division of the University of Bristol IT Services. We were a multidisciplinary group with a mission to explore, prototype and pilot emerging learning and research technologies.
We built up considerable expertise in web standards and technologies, turning abstract technical developments into practical tools and applications. We also had a strong track record in project management, training and consultancy. Our mix of full and part-time staff brought a blend of expert technical and 'social' knowledge, professionalism and creativity to delivering University and external projects.
Our work spanned developments within the University and externally, allowing skills and knowledge to flow between and benefit both. We provided technical development, evaluation and web design services for University projects and external clients, mainly in the public, voluntary and education sectors.
We partnered regularly with academic and support colleagues in a range of forward-looking projects funded by the UK Research Councils, to explore web and other technologies and their application for research and future learning and management processes.
