SharePoint Pete Gilbert, Senior Systems Designer, University of the West of England The University of Western England originally had rather modest aims for their small SharePoint implementation. However, early success and ease of implementation meant that a number of projects began with a quick win. With these under their belt, the University has moved on to develop more strategic applications in teaching and administration. They first built a simulation suite for law students and are now using a SharePoint add on to model the University's business processes. |

AskIT: An experiment in social media for IT Support Jonathan Gazeley, Systems Support Specialist (Wireless & VPN), Information Systems and Computing AskIT, is our new community IT support forum for Bristol staff and students. AskIT is also an experiment in crowdsourcing - gathering expertise from across the university, in recognition that a small central team doesn't have all the answers. We are currently using AskIT to support mobile devices and personally-owned IT equipment, but potentially it has wider applications. AskIT is based on GetSatisfaction, a hosted web 2.0 service. Jonathan Gazeley will demonstrate AskIT and show some of the social media features that drive it. |
